The closing ceremony for the incubation program for SDG Challenge Cup 2020 Winners

GIL held the closing ceremony for incubation program for SDG Challenge Cup 2020 Winners on 9th April 2021 at Government Innovation Lab, University of Balochistan.The SDG Challenge Cup 2020 organized by GIL UoB & Funded by UNDP Pakistan followed a competition-based selection process. The challenge was open to organizations, teams and individuals from Balochistan who wish to deliver an innovative idea to improve the quality of life of citizens that contribute to the prioritized SDGs shortlisted in the final Sector Selection Session. The competition encouraged teams working to enhance governance and livelihood conditions in the country through the use of innovation and technology. Out of 58 submissions, and 3 rounds of mentorship, ideation, and design thinking, the “Digital Libas” team led by Akshay Kumar and “Books for Everyone” led by Muhammad Zeeshan Dar won the winning grant of 200,000 PKR each. During the two months of incubation period, several renowned speakers from all around Pakistan and abroad were invited for mentorship session. Along with these sessions, proper guidance in ICT development and business registration was facilitated. Dr. Waheed Noor (Team Lead GIL / Director ORIC) appreciated the efforts put by the winning teams in creating an impact in an underprivileged province through the virtue of Government Innovation Lab. He encouraged the teams for future participation and development of their prototypes. Dr. Junaid Babar (Activity Lead SDG Cup) acknowledged the active participation of the winning team during the incubation period. He said, these products are ready to create an impact in the society and will continue to encourage new generation in bringing a change in the society through technology. At the end of the ceremony, the winning team recieved their final cheques and presented vote of thanks to GIL.
